Embedded & Maymester Programs
Embedded Programs
The opportunity to embark on an exciting short term study abroad program can be tied in to a class that is taught at PSU. The international travel component usually fits into a natural break from classes in the PSU calendar, like spring break, winter break or Maymester.
Other Embedded programs may be offered through other Penn State colleges or campuses and Smeal students have participated in the past on these programs. Resources you might explore include, but are not limited to:
*Embedded: ASIA 199 - Enchanting India in 7 Days - Mont Alto (Spring Break)
Full list of Penn State Embedded courses for more options. You should reach out to the faculty leader coordinating the trip if you have questions about participating in the course.
Maymester Programs
Maymester programs fall under the category of Summer study abroad, but typically refer to programs that begin and end in the month of May. There are other short, three week programs that may take place in other times of the summer. Consider your other summer plans and any date restrictions you might have as you explore study abroad programs. Students are not permitted to start late or leave early.
Smeal students may attend any PSU approved Education Abroad program. Search Penn State Global to view all PSU study abroad programs offered in the summer term.
Applications must be submitted through Penn State Global on the LionsABROAD portal. Students may only apply to one program at a time. Some programs may be competitive and it is a good idea to have a back-up in mind.
