Welcome to FIRST@Smeal
FIRST@Smeal connects first-generation students with the people, programs, and support they need to succeed throughout their Penn State Smeal College of Business experience.
Penn State defines a first-generation college student as someone whose parent or legal guardian has not completed a bachelor's degree.
FIRST@Smeal is available to first-generation Smeal students at University Park. Students who begin at a Commonwealth Campus can participate fully after transitioning to University Park.
Through the program, you can:
Work with a dedicated academic adviser if you begin at University Park.
Build relationships with fellow first-generation students.
Connect with Smeal alumni through networking opportunities.
Take part in programs that support your academic, personal, and professional growth.
Develop leadership skills by serving on the FIRST@Smeal Leadership Council.
