Three Penn State Smeal Students Awarded Supply Chain Scholarships

Three Penn State Smeal College of Business students recently received scholarships at the 121st annual Traffic Club of Pittsburgh dinner.

Owen Mann, a fourth-year honors student majoring in supply chain and information systems and Spanish with a minor in international business; Mackenzie Brannon, a third-year honors student majoring in supply chain and information systems with a minor in business analytics & information systems; and McKenna Schrenk, a third-year honors student majoring in supply chain and information systems with minors in international business and information systems management, each received a $7,500 scholarship from the club.

"I am grateful to the Traffic Club of Pittsburgh for this honor and for hosting us at their annual dinner,” Mann said. “The organization was very welcoming, and it was a pleasure to connect with both industry leaders and other motivated students."

The 10 scholarship recipients were invited to the annual dinner, held March 27 at the David L. Lawrence Convention Center in Pittsburgh. The keynote speaker was Donnie Campbell, a math teacher and high school basketball coach from Kansas, who gained recognition when actor Jason Sudeikis, star of the five-time Emmy Award-winning show "Ted Lasso," revealed Campbell was the inspiration for the beloved title character.

Scholarship recipients receive a two-year membership to the Traffic Club of Pittsburgh, which provides networking opportunities, internships, and potential employment with leading companies that sponsor the organization.

Traffic Club membership is open to anyone involved in transportation. The club fosters the exchange of ideas and information among members through business and social gatherings, facilitating interaction between shippers, receivers, and transportation companies to enhance industry knowledge. Its merit-based scholarship program is a key annual event, with more than $925,000 awarded to college students since its inception.
