Three Smeal Students Recognized in 2025 MIT Supply Chain Awards

Three Penn State Smeal College of Business supply chain students have been recognized in the 2025 MIT Supply Chain Excellence Awards, a prestigious program from the MIT Supply Chain Management (SCM) master’s program that honors outstanding undergraduate talent in supply chain and industrial engineering.

Andrew Gibble, a supply chain and information systems major graduating in spring 2025, and Gabriel Marshall, a supply chain and information systems major graduating in fall 2025, each earned the MIT Supply Chain Excellence Award. Upon enrollment in the MIT SCM master’s program, they will receive a $30,000 fellowship to go toward tuition reduction.

Ryan Hickey, also a supply chain and information systems major graduating in spring 2025, was named a Qualified Nominee for the 2025 awards.

"I am excited and grateful to have been awarded the 2025 MIT Supply Chain Excellence Award," said Marshall. "I look forward to pursuing graduate education at MIT in the next few years as I start my career in supply chain."

The MIT Supply Chain Excellence Award fellowships are given annually to high-achieving graduating senior supply chain and/or industrial engineering majors at selected universities. The 2025 program has provided over $800,000 in fellowship funding to thirty-four recipients.

Through a long-standing collaboration with the MIT Center for Transportation and Logistics, the university partner program selects students from top institutions including Penn State, Arizona State University, University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign, Lehigh University, Michigan State University, Monterrey Institute of Technology and Higher Education (Mexico), Purdue University, and Texas A&M University.

After gaining two to five years of professional experience, recipients may redeem their fellowships by applying and being admitted to the MIT SCM program. Fellowship awards may be applied toward tuition at MIT or any of the SCALE Global Network centers in Spain, Malaysia, Luxembourg or China.
