Student Organization Spotlight: Supply Chain Management Association
Garrett Callenberger, SCMA President, recently shared more about the organization, some key initiatives, and how prospective students can get involved.
What is your student organization and what are its values?
Supply Chain Management Association (SCMA) places the values of Passion, Development, and Community at the center of everything we do; they are the driving force for our operations. We have our operations organized into three different pillars as well: Professional Development, Networking/Recruiting and Philanthropy. Focusing on these pillars, SCMA provides opportunities for students interested in supply chain to prepare themselves for the professional world and to eventually land the internship, co-op, and/or full-time job to propel them into that world.
What is the benefit of merging APICS and CSCMP and how will SCMA further student development?
By merging APICS and CSCMP, students, corporate partners, recruiters, and Penn State faculty and staff can devote their attention to one general supply chain student organization. Our goal is to provide as many high-quality opportunities to our members while creating a seamless corporate engagement process. By bringing both organizations under one roof, we can create a more effective and efficient experience for all involved.
By balancing interactive case studies (presented by corporate partners) with various professional development workshops (presented by experienced professionals), students will participate in an all-encompassing development experience to prepare them for the professional world.
What is the process of joining your student organization?
We have a standard process for joining the organization. There are 4 different things they need to complete to join and receive communication from us
