Meet Penn State Supply Chain Podcast Guest: Natalia Lyckowski

The most recent episode of the discussed neurodiversity with Natalia Lyckowski, Global Neurodiversity Advancement Leader and Supply Chain Inventory Transformation Lead at IBM. Leading with her passion for advocating for neurodivergent (ND) talent like herself, she spoke on the importance of embracing ND talent and IBM's rich history of diversity and diverse ability inclusion. Learn more about our guest below!

What initially brought you to IBM?

Believe it or not, I was placed at IBM through a temp agency working in the mail room. I had recently moved after graduate school and needed to pay rent while I was looking for a ‘real’ job. I usually finished my assigned labors early in the day and started asking people in the office if they needed help with anything. I met some great people, and many became my friends and mentors. It was a very proud day when I became an IBMer – and I’m still a #proudibmer.

What is your top resource for those looking to learn more about neurodiversity?

Look for organizations with strong neurodivergent representation and better yet - neurodivergent leadership. You need to speak with actually neurodivergent people to truly understand how to help the community. (One of my personal favorites is ASAN – Autistic Self Advocacy Network.)

What is the most important trait someone would need to work in your industry? (both supply chain and your work with ND)

I can’t decide on a single trait, so I’ll give you two. Radical Candor and Servant Leadership.

What is something about your work that has surprised you lately?

I’ve always surprised by all the love and support I encounter when talking to people about neurodiversity.

If you could be remembered for one thing, what would it be?

I’d like to be remembered for helping people open their hearts and minds and see neurodiversity as a strength, whether ally or neurodivergent themself.
