Graduation Feature: Jaden Evans
My name is Jaden Kalani Evans, and I am a senior at Penn State graduating this December with a degree in Business Analytics & Information Systems.
Why did you decide to graduate this fall rather than in the spring?
Graduating in the fall aligned better with my academic and career goals. By finishing early, I could take the next step in my professional journey sooner while also completing all the necessary coursework to feel prepared.
What involvements did you have during your time at Penn State?
During my time at Penn State, I was involved with MISA (The Management Information Systems Association) as a member of their executive board, two years in a row. I was a part of Relay For Life where we raised money for the American Cancer Society. I also have been an RA on campus for south halls.
What is your favorite thing about business analytics & information systems?
My favorite aspect of business analytics & information systems is the ability to solve complex business problems using technology. I enjoy bridging the gap between business and IT and seeing how these systems drive efficiency and innovation in organizations.
What was your experience with internships?
I interned at PwC this past summer in their Risk and Regulatory Consulting practice. It was an incredible experience where I had the opportunity to work on challenging projects and demonstrate my skills. My mentor(s) at PwC encouraged me to take ownership of tasks, which boosted my confidence and solidified my passion for consulting, especially in financial services.
What are your future plans after graduation?
After graduation, I will join PwC in Washington, DC, as a Risk and Regulatory Consulting associate in financial services.
What aspect of your future job are you most excited about?
I am most excited about working with a talented team to help clients navigate complex challenges. I look forward to learning from experienced professionals and building strong relationships in the industry.
How has Smeal helped prepare you for graduation?
Smeal has provided me with the knowledge and tools to succeed through challenging coursework, practical applications, and collaborative opportunities. It has also offered access to networking events and career resources that helped me secure my position at PwC.
Do you have any advice for students looking to major in business analytics & information systems or supply chain?
I believe the key to succeeding in any major, including supply chain, is to build strong relationships with professors, seek internships early, and never hesitate to ask questions or seek help. Practical experiences and leveraging Smeal’s resources can make all the difference.
