Four Penn State Smeal students win Dell Case Competition

Four Penn State Smeal College of Business students recently took first place in the 2025 Dell Case Competition, sponsored by Dell Technologies and hosted by the Penn State Center for Supply Chain Research.

Emma Ambrose, third-year supply chain and information systems major; Ellie Toland, third-year supply chain and information systems major; Sophie Bang, third-year supply chain and information systems major; and Maya Knapp, third-year business administration major, placed first and were awarded $1,000 as a team.

The competition, in its third year hosted at Penn State, provides second and third-year students interested in the supply chain an opportunity to engage in a business case based on a real-world challenge Dell faced in the past year. Three teams of students presented their proposed solutions to a panel of four judges.

The panel of judges included:

  • Kim Kainer, vice president of global client supply chain planning at Dell

  • Adriana Hunt, director of service supply chain management at Dell

  • Katie Cocco, senior analyst in logistics at Dell

  • Sue Purdum, teaching professor in supply chain management in the Smeal College of Business
